Blue lace agate is a banded chalcedony in soft powder blue and white, with delicate swirls that really do look like lace. Agates form when silica-rich water seeps into cavities in rock and builds up in layers, and each band marks a stage of that slow growth. Almost all fine blue lace agate has come from one deposit near Ysterputs in Namibia, which makes good material genuinely limited. That single-source story is part of its charm for collectors.
